Roald Dahl Story Day is celebrated every year on his birthday, the 13th of September, and people all over the world come together to celebrate the magic he brought to, and continues to bring, children everywhere.

Today, staff dressed as Dahl’s most memorable characters while our children dressed in yellow. Mrs Fisher, our English Subject Leader launched the event with a special assembly where our children enjoyed facts and extracts from his books. Today we remember the author who wrote more than 20 children's books, including The Twits, Fantastic Mr Fox and The Witches. Many of them have been turned into films and even musicals, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda. He died on 23 November 1990. Every year, since 13 September 2006 - on what would have been his birthday - there's been a special Roald Dahl Day to celebrate his stories and their characters.

This year would have been his 108th birthday! Why not make a special effort tonight to read a chapter, extract or even your favourite Dahl book to your favourite little people of all? If there’s a snap, we’d love to see it!
