Summer Developments at Upwell

Our Summer break started with 2 full weeks of offering the Holiday and Food Program at school. This was followed by 4 weeks of exceptionally hard work by staff, volunteers and contractors. It’s been so wonderful to see all of our children return and enjoy these continued developments at the Academy. The learning environments have continued to be further TRANSFORMED for our pupils, visitors and staff. A special thank you to everyone that has helped us to achieve so much again!

This Summer, many spaces across the Academy have been repainted indoor and out. Our aim is to continue to develop and provide a low sensory learning environment across school to fully support Teaching and Learning. New whiteboards have been added to every classroom and old, exhausted furniture replaced. New outdoor, weatherproof display boards have been mounted; our chicken run has been cleared providing much needed space for our beloved birds.

Fences and gates to our Sensory Garden and Maths Garden have also been repainted. Our EYFS outdoor and indoor spaces have been tidied extensively and rejuvenated and we are excited to share with you our September project for EYFS outdoors very soon.

A 16-yard followed by 8-yard skip has been filled! Two classroom spaces have had extensive work completed with new flooring and sink units installed. Can you imagine the dust (which spread across the school!) that this produced!

If you thought all of this would be a huge feat in just 4 weeks, we have had the entirety of the main school carpeted, every single room emptied and put back again! We are sure you will agree, it looks amazing :)
