Today, the Wonder Dome Planetarium came to visit Reception, Year 2 and Year 5! We had an amazing time being space explorers. The planetarium show took us on a tour of the solar system starts the journey of exploration. We learn about the International Space Station, the Moon, the planets in our solar system, the Milky Way and the Galaxy.
Across the Academy, pupils have extended their science skills and knowledge through a variety of activities and experiments. For example, in Reception: Cygnet class have been looking at how we can look after our teeth. This led wonderfully into Science week as we decided to carry out the ‘eggshell teeth experiment’. The “eggshell teeth experiment" demonstrates how different liquids affect tooth enamel. Since eggshells are similar to tooth enamel in structure (they are made of calcium carbonate), they can be used as a substitute to observe the effects of various liquids.
