Transformation of Our Academy Library
Two rooms designated to what is arguably the most important thing you’ll ever teach or encourage your child to do – read!
During the Summer 2023 Staff have weeded, catalogued and reorganised hundreds of books! Classes will have the opportunity to visit in their lunch breaks as well as during learning time.
Our Year 4 children were invited to apply for the NEW role of Junior Librarian. Mrs Fisher, our English Lead & Reading Champion, and Mrs Roberts, our Academy Librarian held interviews last week and were extremely impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and love for books! This week our Junior Librarians have completed their induction to the role: touring our new library and beginning to understand their responsibilities which will include: sorting through book returns, redistributing books on the shelves, selecting front facing books to appeal to children of all ages and advising pupils on book choices. Today they were presented with their badges in assembly.
Our Junior Librarians will also be taking part in book events and celebrations, including raising the profile of Our Academy Library.
All children have access to the library throughout the week, during lesson time. Our library is also open on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtime for all children to pop, change their books and enjoy the vast selection of fiction and non fiction books we have on offer!
