Today, our new library officially opened!
This morning, our very talented, newly-appointed, Junior Librarians joined by Mrs Roberts, our resident Librarian and Mrs Fisher our English Lead and Reading Champion, held a special ceremony with the support of Nicky O’Regan, Deputy Chair of FOSA and Mrs Ward, FOSA member.
Throughout the day children were given the opportunity to explore the library and the new literature on offer.
Children were incredibly excited to be one of the first to get their hands on one of the many new fiction and non-fiction books we have added to the shelves. We also had our very own Mrs Wilkin, who joined them to speak about how she became a published author and share her children’s book.
Here are some quotes from our staff and children: “There is now so much choice in the library, it’s so exciting” – Y4 Junior Librarian, Bethany
“Reading offers more than a chance to escape but also to learn. The best thing about our new library is there is a book for everyone.” - Y4 Junior Librarian, Lacey
“I believe this is an investment into the future of every pupil here at Upwell, and I’m very excited for our children to take the opportunity to discover their own appreciation for words.” – Mrs Fisher
